Feeling overwhelmed No Where to Run?

Lately, I’ve been trying to balance everything: school, work, church, and keeping up with friends.

And honestly? It’s been hard.

I wake up every day with a list that never ends: homework due dates, shifts I can’t miss, people to check in on, church events I want to attend.

And somewhere in the middle of all of that… I realize I haven’t even paused to talk to God.

I know what the Bible says.

“Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33

But sometimes, even knowing that truth, it’s hard.

There are just seasons where life feels louder than my prayers, where I know I should be putting God first, but I’m too tired, too busy, too overwhelmed.

The Tension of Doing and Being

It’s easy to fall into the mindset of go, go, go.

You’ve got deadlines, bills, and expectations pressing in on you.

You’re trying to figure out if this job is even right for you, if this major still fits your calling, and if you’re even on the right path at all.

You want to please God, but it feels like the world is pulling you in 10 directions at once.

And when everything’s loud, it’s so easy to forget that peace doesn’t come from control, it comes from surrender.

“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

When You Can’t Sit Still

If I’m being honest, I don’t always “sit still” well.

I’m used to running, fixing, doing, showing up.

But lately, I’ve been realizing that when I don’t slow down long enough to sit with Jesus, I end up trying to carry the world on my own.

And that’s when everything starts feeling heavier than it should.

Stillness isn’t laziness. It’s strength.

It’s the reminder that I’m not meant to do everything by myself and neither are you.

“Be still, and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10

The Heart Check

So if you’re like me, exhausted, stretched thin, trying to be everything for everyone: pause for a second.

Ask yourself:

“What’s been getting my time more than God lately?”

And instead of feeling guilty, use that question as a chance to re-center.

God’s not waiting to punish you for being tired, He’s waiting to restore you.

Final Thought

You might not be able to drop all your responsibilities, but you can decide who you’ll run to first.

You can choose to take one moment, even in the chaos, to breathe and say:

“Lord, I’m overwhelmed, but I’m Yours.”

And that’s enough.

“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Exodus 14:14
